Hitched

When I first moved to Denver in 2016, live music and snowboarding composed of 90% of my entire life. I was photographing a concert downtown when I met this lovely couple at the bar who were Bassheads through and through. We chatted about electronic music extensively and they were beaming as they mentioned their recent engagement aboard Holy Ship, an EDM festival on a cruise ship. After about ten minutes they said, “we’re getting married in 6 months and we want you to shoot our wedding”. I thought it was odd that they decided to hire me for such an important milestone in their life without seeing any of my work first. I assumed they were all talk, as people at shows often do after a drink or two. But hey, they meant business.

Half a year later I was flying out to Maryland to photograph my first solo wedding. Not going to lie, I was a little nervous as most wedding photographers have two shooters for multiple camera angles and to be in two places at once. But really, I knew I was more than capable and had a really sweet setup of a canon DSLR and my canon 35mm AE1. My high end lenses for my DSLR worked on my film camera with an adapter so I could shoot various focal lengths with both cameras on a shoulder harness. I ran around like a headless chicken and kind of winged it, but the photos came out great and the couple was elated with their photos, so was I.
